As almost always, your genial host yet again had difficulty singling out five entries to set before the vast MinnPost community for the selection of the one shining example that will receive the particularly resplendent MinnPost T-shirt.
And, as almost always, your genial host brought the difficulty on himself. In this case it was by inviting submissions — as one entry — of one to five persons (living, dead or fictional) and a piece of music with which each might be associated. It was the one-to-five part that was your host's downfall.
He realized, when he started looking at them, that it was very difficult, at least for him, to evaluate entries that contained both examples that were excellent and others that were . . . not, particularly alongside other entries consisting of just a single, but appealing, example.
So he's picked the five individual examples that he liked the best. If you notice that two people each have two entries in your genial host's top five, you're very observant. Or you read the previous sentence. Or both.
Here are your choices:
Dr. Jack Kevorkian, "Take My Breath Away"
— Pam Ridgway
Marty McFly, "In the Year 2525"
— Pam Ridgway
Tim Pawlenty and Carol Molnau, "I Got You, Babe"
— John Olson
Thomas Alva Edison, "You Light Up My Life"
— Michael Norman
Sen. Larry Craig, "I Hear You Knocking (But You Can't Come In)"
— Michael Norman
