Twin Cities Gay Men's Chorus offers 'Food, Glorious Food' concert
Splendid Table host and cookbook author Lynne Rossetto Kasper will join the Twin Cities Gay Men’s Chorus for two “Food, Glorious Food” concerts this weekend. On the program: You guessed it, food.
Among the evening’s songs are Leonard Bernstein’s "I Can Cook, Too!" "Lime Jello, Marshmallow, Cottage Cheese Surprise" (with Kasper), and, of course, "Food, Glorious Food" from "Oliver."
The concert will be performed at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday nights at Ted Mann Concert Hall on the University of Minnesota campus.
The chorus is encouraging audience members to bring donations of nonperishable food to the concert; the drive will benefit The Aliveness Project. Also in conjunction with the concert, on Thursday afternoon members of the chorus will deliver to Open Arms of Minnesota more than 1,000 boxes of cereal collected during its benefit drive.
If you want to get in the food mood, check out the chorus’ 49-page collection of favorite recipes (PDF) -- from first tenor Drew Kuula’s fresh guacamole to artistic director Stan Hill’s “Stanhattan.”
“Food, Glorious Food.” Friday, March 27, and Saturday, March 28 at 8 p.m. Ted Mann Concert Hall, 2128 4th St. S., Minneapolis. Tickets available at 612-624-2345 or online.
