Award-winning photographers contribute to exhibit on homeless veterans
More than 50 photos that depict the plight of veterans faced with homelessness in Minnesota are on display for two weeks in the Ramsey County Courthouse.
Six photographers -- Carlos Gonzalez of the Star Tribune and freelancers Stormi Greener, Brian Lesterberg, Scott Streble, Chante Wolff and Cathy ten Broeke -- contributed to the exhibit, which was produced by the Greater Minnesota Housing Fund in cooperation with the Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans and Heading Home Minnesota.
The exhibit is open in Memorial Hall of the courthouse Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., through June 12. Later, it will travel to cities throughout Minnesota (you can see a schedule here).
Organizers say the photos "capture the dignity and resiliency of people managing everyday life with few resources and the positive changes that can occur with stable housing."
Warren Hanson, president of the Greater Minnesota Housing Fund, said much work is being done to increase the supply of affordable housing thoughout the state, but through the photos in the exhibit "we are reminded that much more remains to be done.”
