The Schubert Club‘s weekly free lunchtime concert series starts a new season Thursday in St. Paul.

The first program in the kick-off concert features Karen Hansen, clarinet; John Wilcox, basset horn; and Sue Ruby, piano, with an all-Mendelssohn program. 

The program includes Konzertstück für Klarinette, Bassetthorn und Klavier Nr. 2 d-moll, Opus 114 and Konzertstück für Klarinette, Bassetthorn und Klavier Nr. 1 f-moll, Opus 113.

Then Lorelei Giddings, oboe; Vicki Wheeler, French horn; and Sue Ruby, piano, will perform Carl Reinecke’s Trio in B flat, Op. 274.

The concert series runs most Thursdays, Oct. 15 through April 29, 2010, from 12:05 to 1 p.m. in Courtroom 317 of St. Paul’s Landmark Center, across from Rice Park and the Ordway.
