Hip-hop dance and music have not only taken firm hold in the Twin Cities; they’ve set down long, deep roots that are nourishing a distinctive style of hip-hop that’s being carefully watched here and around the country. “ROOTED: Hip Hop Choreographers’ Evening” is becoming an annual event, and this year’s version, curated by Maia Maiden at Patrick’s Cabaret, will showcase choreographers from high-school age to professional.

The docket features almost 20 performers and/or companies from throughout the Twin Cities. The multicultural group include Ellena Schoop, Emily Broeker/Kathleen Pender, Fatima Cocci/Debra McGee, Keane Sense of Rhythm Tap Company, KB, Kortland Jackson/Jay Walker, Praxis, Rene Thompson, Small Talk/Spread The Love, SPCPA, Stephanie Shapso, TradeChasers, Viva Venzuela and Voice of Culture.
