Caldecott Medal winner "The House in the Night," written by Minnesota children’s author Susan Marie Swanson, is difficult to keep in stock. The book recently won a Caldecott for best illustration (Beth Krommes). According to Curious George Books and Toys, the book has "proven such a hit that we just can't keep it on the shelf, and the publisher can't keep it in print! Luckily, another print run has just come in, so make sure to pick up your copy now."

The tidbit came via a tweet from Swanson, who asked, "Can someone go hug this bookseller on Harvard Square for me? I love her."

Swanson is among Arts Arena’s "followers" and "following" on Twitter. We just joined this week, so we’re still learning the vocabulary and how best to use Twitter. Initially, we thought it would be a good way to publicize our arts coverage in 140 characters or less. After a few days, we’re seeing it could be a good source of arts news and musings, too.

For example, we learned that the Guthrie Theater and its communications manager offered free tickets to "Two Gentlemen of Verona" Tuesday and Wednesday to those who showed up at the box office by 7 p.m. and said "Twitter." Another local theater was wondering how that went. Arts Arena wanted to know of other attempts to get "butts in seats" but didn’t get much of a response. GoCityKids offers a lot of tips on free and low-cost arts and entertainment for families, including a free Minnesota Sinfonia concert this weekend. And it notes that the Walker Art Center is inviting kids "to imagine a replacement for the Sculpture Garden’s missing cherry. Cheerios, anyone?"

Such a deal (updated): Wouldn't you know that not long after I posted the above, the Ordway tweeted that it's offering $10 tickets to "Grey Gardens" from March 17 to March 24.
