    This month’s 9X22: A Dance Lab

By Camille LeFevre | Published Wed, Apr 22 2009 7:15 am

Back in August 2003, choreographer and performer Laurie Van Wieren embarked on an additional career as impresario. She founded 9X22: A Dance Lab, a monthly performance work-in-progress showcase, to give audiences an opportunity to see new fledgling works and talk with the creators about them.

Since then, 9X22 -- named for the dimensions of the stage at Bryant Lake Bowl in Minneapolis --has become home to the once-a-month, Wednesday evening showcase. Here’s where you can order a drink, settle into your chair, and enjoy an informal look at Twin Cities dance under the radar of the usual venues and presenters.

Tonight’s show features new work by Pramila Vasudevan, a dancer and an interactive multimedia artist; Kelly Rademacher, who has performed with movement-theater troupe Off-Leash Area; and Jesse Neumann-Peterson Kuchta, who’s such a newcomer, nothing comes up on Google.  Talk about undiscovered talent.

8 p.m., $6-$10 (pay what you can), Bryant-Lake Bowl, 810 West Lake St., Minneapolis (612)825-8949.
