One night only: "Diary of Anne Frank" returns to Park Square Theatre Monday

By Joe Kimball | Published Fri, Apr 24 2009 9:00 am

Park Square Theatre in downtown St. Paul began producing "The Diary of Anne Frank" 10 years ago, with  evening productions and daytime shows for student groups. When it rotated out of the evening schedule, though, demand for the student showings was so great that they bring it back, season after season, for the daytime middle- and high-school crowd.

On Monday it returns  to prime time, with a one-time 10th anniversary evening showing. Four members of the original team are still with the show: Donna Porfiri, who was the first Mrs. Frank, now understudies that role; Grant Ritchie continues playing Mr. Dussel; Robert-Bruce Brake, the show’s properties designer, handles the props and plays Mr. Van Daan; and Scott Rubsam continues to return annually to direct the show.

"The Diary of Anne Frank." Monday, April 27, 7:30 p.m. Park Square Theatre, in the Hamm Building, 20 W. Seventh Place. Tickets $20; $15 for age 30 and under. It'll be Park Square's 479th performance of the play.
