Several dance samplers have sprung up in the last five or so years, curated by long-time members of the Twin Cities dance community. One of them is Sarah LaRose Holland’s Kinetic Kitchen, which largely focuses on emerging dance talent.

This weekend’s showcase includes DAdance, a project of former Zenon Dance Company member Denise Armstead. In her work, Armstead combines a modern-dance sensibility with an illustrative fondness for music. Her new work, “In between, between places,” reportedly takes an “ethereal approach” (does that mean it will incorporate aerial dance, which Armstead’s done in the past?) to coexisting “energies that we cannot see but feel.”

The work of Wicked Sister Dance Company -- which has been around since 2002, does incorporate aerial acrobatics, as well as modern dance, butoh and theater -- is also on the program. Christopher Yaeger’s “Dance Hall Days” examines social dances of the 20^th century through the multimedia lens of the 21^st. And emerging choreographer Julie Warder, whose company is Speak Life Dance Theater, blends the spiritual with the entertaining in her multicultural work.
