    British violinist Irvine Arditti has three free performances at U of M

    British violinist Irvine Arditti will perform three free concerts as part of the University of Minnesota School of Music’s Contemporary Music Workshop. Arditti is the soloist and leader for the Arditti String Quartet.

    The first is tonight, 7:30 p.m. in Ferguson Hall, 2106 Fourth St. S., Minneapolis. He'll play new compositions for solo violin from U of M students in the CMW lab, including world premieres of works by Michael Duffy, Colin Holter, Schuyler Tsuda and Jeremy Wagner.

    On Sunday, he'll play with pianist Noriko Kawai at 7:30 p.m. in the Ted Mann Concert Hall, 2128 Fourth St. S., 
Minneapolis. They'll performing Iannis Xenakis’ Mikka & Mikka S for solo violin and Dikthas for violin and piano; James Dillon’s Traumwerk Book III for violin and piano and Del Cuarto Elemento for solo violin; and works by Salvatore Sciarrino.

    Monday at 12:30 p.m. he'll teach a master class at Ferguson Hall, Room 280.

    All three events are free and open to the pubic, and tickets are not required. More information is available here or 612-626-1094.
