SELLOUT, the popular, six-month-old, artist-run gallery in the Northrup King Building, will soon be no more. For their final exhibition in the space, the proprietors are trying something a bit different.

The exhibition's title, "Flat Line," plays on both the gallery's imminent demise and the type of work that'll be shown, which will be a departure from its usual, high-concept exhibitions which have focused on significant pieces, by only three artists at a time.

Instead, "Flat Line" will offer a smorgasbord of smaller, more collector-friendly pieces by a host of accomplished contemporary artists in the area: works on paper, "compressed sculpture," and other smaller, "linear" pieces.

The work on view and for sale, drawn from the gallery's "flat file," will include work by SELLOUT's friends and previously exhibited artists: John Alspach, Aaron Anderson, TJ Barnes, Elizabeth Jeffries Barnes, Ute Bertog, Allen Brewer, Eric Carlson, Isa Gagarin, Ben Garthus, John Gaunt, Chris Held, Jason Lahr, Ginny Maki, Megan McCready, Scott Nedrelow, Jennifer Nevitt, Chris Held, Kristen Mooney, David Peterson, Crystal Quinn, Tim Roby, Bruce Tapola, Tectonic Industries, Eric Ullanderson, Pamela Valfer and others.

If any of the names above caught your eye, bring your wallet with you when you visit the show. These smaller, "flat file" offerings are both accessible and affordable. It's a good opportunity to pick up some pieces by notable, mid-career contemporary artists, many of whom are better known for making appealing but high-concept (but less living room-friendly) work.

"Flat Line" will open with a free, public reception tonight, March 5, at 6 p.m., and the show will be on view at SELLOUT Gallery (Northrup King Building, Studio #456) through the end of the month.
