The 2010 Minnesota Fringe Festival certainly brought in audiences, as the long-running event crossed 50,000 tickets sold for the first time in its 17-year history. In the end, more than $355,000 in tickets were sold, and 56 performances by 25 shows were sold out.
The definite hit of the show was Joking Envelope's "The Damn Audition," which sold the most tickets and had the highest percentage of seats filled — not surprising, as all five of the performances were sold out (for festival purposes, that only includes the main floor of the Rarig Thrust).
Considering that the Saturday afternoon performance I saw filled half of the overflow seats, it's pretty clear that Joe Scrimshaw and the all-star cast hit a real home run here.
