Last December, the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra was touting the arrival of Helane Anderson, its new director of artistic planning fresh from the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

Now there's news that Anderson is leaving the SPCO after eight months on the job. She's going to pursue other interests, the orchestra said.

Anderson had been artistic administrator in Los Angeles when she was brought in to replace John Mangum, who left the SPCO last summer for the New York Philharmonic.

The job involves working with the Artistic Partners and the Artistic Vision Committee "to create and implement artistic initiatives — including artist/conductor engagements, season programming, touring, festival and recording projects. The position also oversees the SPCO’s education programs."
