Roger Buoen
Roger Buoen is MinnPost co-managing editor and has been an editor for the site since it was launched in 2007. Before joining MinnPost, he was deputy managing editor for the Star Tribune and had worked at the newspaper for 27 years. He held other jobs at the Star Tribune as well: assistant city editor, special projects reporter, Sunday editor, national editor, assistant managing editor. Most of the positions focused on coverage of public affairs.
He was born and raised in Minnesota and has spent most of his life in the state except for attending college in Evanston, Ill., and living in Washington, D.C., to cover Congress while in graduate school. He also attended law school in Minnesota, passed the state bar exam in 1980, but stuck to journalism and never practiced law. He is married to Cynthia Boyd, a former reporter for the Pioneer Press who writes Community Sketchbook. They have two sons: Justin, who works for Sen. Amy Klobuchar, and Erik, who works for Travelers insurance company.
