All clubs registered with MinnPost’s Book Club Club are automatically entered in periodic drawings for literary and book club-related prizes. Prizes and winners are announced in our Book Club Chatter blog.

    What is it?
MinnPost’s Book Club Club, which launched Sept. 15, 2009, is a club made up of existing Minnesota book clubs -- a community of engaged readers. Book clubs of all sizes, themes and types that meet anywhere in the state are welcome to join. Membership is free.

    Who’s involved?
Sarah T. Williams, former books editor of the Star Tribune, hosts the BCC site on MinnPost. Book lovers Audra Otto, Lindsey Dyer, Sallie Neall and Faith Christine also volunteer their time writing and/or collecting data. Beth Thibodeau, a MinnPost contract editor, is volunteer webmistress for this project. MinnPost staff members Sally Waterman, Corey Anderson and Karl Pearson-Cater provide advertising, design and technical services.

What kinds of content will be on the BCC landing page?
We cover all sorts of things of interest to book club members and other engaged readers. For example, once every other month, Sarah T. Williams attends a book club meeting somewhere in the Twin Cities metro or Greater MN. She reads the book to be discussed, then blogs about the club, the book and the discussion. We also publish Club Chatter with items from and about clubs, book club-related news and features, local best-seller lists gathered from bookstores around the state, articles from The Loft about the craft of writing, and whatever else comes up.

    Why register your Book Club?
Member clubs receive benefits including invitations to events such as our first Book Club Blast held on March 7, 2010; an email newsletter sent once or twice a month to each club’s contact person for forwarding to other members; automatic entry in drawings for literary event tickets and prizes; and the opportunity to help us build and sustain a Minnesota community of engaged readers.

    How does registration work?
Choose a descriptive name for your club and a captain who is willing to be the club contact. Then complete the form below. We’ll email your club captain from time to time and ask what books the club is reading and whether you’d recommend them to others.
