MinnPost’s Book Club Club is delighted to welcome the University of Minnesota Press as the first Presenting Sponsor of this section of the site.

The Press joins BCC’s three Supporting Sponsors: The Loft Literary Center; The Friends of the St. Paul Public Library; and the Department of English, University of Minnesota.

All four literary organizations will post frequently updated messages on the left side of the BCC section front — with info about books, classes, speakers and events of interest to Minnesota’s vibrant literary community.

Not surprisingly, the U of M Press publishes diverse works about Minnesota and the upper Midwest. And the Test Division publishes well-known personality assessment instruments including the MMPI-2 and MMPI-A. But the Press has a broad range of other interests, publishing “groundbreaking work in social and cultural thought, critical theory, race and ethnic studies, urbanism, feminist criticism, and media studies,” as well as translations of important European and Latin American works.

If you’re coming to the Book Club Blast on Sunday, you’ll have a chance to meet several U of M Press authors — Gayla Marty, Sue Leaf and Doug Grow — and a lot of other exceptional writers too.

MinnPost is deeply grateful for the support of all Book Club Club sponsors.
