Franken lawyer Marc Elias fights back against the Journal's fact-challenged Nov. 12 editorial, which was risible then but just looks stupid now.
By the way, I'm not sure how many have noticed, but the two precincts most subject to rightwing scarifying — in Two Harbors and Mountain Iron — have been recounted.
Republicans expressed outrage that Franken's Two Harbors number rose from 27 on Election Night to 273; officials explained they mistakenly dropped a "3" transmitting the totals to the Secretary of State's website. Recount number: 273.
In Mountain Iron, GOP operatives screamed about a 100-vote Franken jump, from 406 to 506, resulting from an Election Night mis-transcription of preliminary phoned-in results. The recount gave Franken 504 votes, a perfectly normal adjustment so far.
Remember, all precinct recounts are observed by Coleman representatives.
Next phony scandal?
Update: Oh yeah, absentee ballots. Suddenly, the Journal is all into the sanctity of election judges. Whatever works. And in fairness, the Albert Lea Tribune agrees with the Journal.
