    Gardenhire: Grab some bench, Delmon

By David Brauer | Published Wed, Dec 3 2008 9:17 pm

I haven't shown it much on this blog yet, but I'm a big-time Twins fan, so I thought I'd pass along this great, blunt Ron Gardenhire quote, courtesy of the Fargo Forum's Mike McFeely:

Minnesota Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said Wednesday he’d prefer a starting outfield of Carlos Gomez, Denard Span and Michael Cuddyer in 2009, which would leave enigmatic Delmon Young out of the lineup.

“Those three guys need to play every day,” said Gardenhire, in Fargo to speak at an agricultural trade show. “Delmon is in the mix. He’s a hell of a player, a hell of a talent. But to me, those three guys should be your outfield and then you go from there.”

This won't make Young any easier to trade, and you don't know if Billy Smith agrees with his manager, but Gardenhire has spoken.
