    Updates: The Pioneer's $1 subscription, and Star Tribune pensions

    Two quick updates:

    1. On the Pioneer Press' buck-a-year offer for Dakota Countians. I had asked for comment and more details; here's the paper's statement: "The Pioneer Press does not discuss basic prices, pricing practices, promotions or test offers in our competitive market. ... it is important to note that Pioneer Press readership continues to dominate the East Metro area."

    2. On the Pension Benefit Guarantee Corp.'s presence on a Strib Chapter 11 creditors committee: Apparently, this is something of a formality anytime there's a potential for a debtor to dump its pension on the PBGC. Doesn't necessarily mean said dumping will happen.
