Interesting filing yesterday in the Star Tribune bankruptcy case which may portend a PiPress merger — or perhaps nothing at all.
Attorney Donald A. Workman submitted a disclosure statement retention questionnaire (PDF) indicating the Strib had hired his D.C. firm, Baker Hostetler, for "antitrust counseling" in April 2008. In the disclosure, Workman notes the Strib still owes the firm $319.98 for unpaid work pre-bankruptcy.
What's unclear to me — and please, knowledgeable readers, help with some crowdsourcing — is whether the filing is to get paid, as a requirement for past services rendered, or because Baker Hostetler will be doing antitrust work going forward.
The Strib business side does not return requests for comment, and I wouldn't expect Workman to speak about a client, though I'll ring him up.
In the meantime, if you have a good idea of what's up here, add a comment or shoot me an email at dbrauer [at] minnpost.com.
