Jeanette Trompeter, the popular WCCO anchor laid off in a cost-cutting move in March, will return to a former California station to resume her career.
Beginning Jan. 4, Trompeter will anchor the KSBY "Action News" in San Luis Obispo, which she acknowledges is "a relatively small market." Professionally, that's a step down, but when your severance is running out, what are you going to do? While she says she "won't get rich," Trompeter says she's looking forward to hanging with her parents and family, who still live there.
I've never been much interested in the TV cult of personality, but I have to admit, I found Jeanette charming as heck. Fans might be interested in her ruminations, which can be found here.
On her blog, she's been pretty frank about the sadness she's fought through since losing the WCCO gig, something many in the profession have experienced lately.
