Fox9 hires CNN veteran Collins as 5 p.m., 9 p.m. anchor

At times, I've questioned the news savvy of Fox9 anchors, but the station just hired CNN anchor Heidi Collins to be Jeff Passolt's running mate at 5 and 9 p.m. Collins is a Mounds View High grad who left CNN in January.

At least one competitor tells me this is a good hire; Collins has three Murrow Awards, a Peabody and a duPont Award under her belt. She replaces, in a roundabout way, Robyne Robinson, who left this spring.

The station's release says Collins anchored "CNN Newsroom with Heidi Collins," an 8-10 a.m. show I never watched because I would rather gouge out my eyes than watch cable news' phony controversies and dumbed-down reporting during anything other than a crisis. But that's just me.

Good luck to Collins and start boning up on local politics.

Try Fox News, Brau.

It's the highest rated network on cable, and provides excellent news coverage and analysis.

There's even a few real lookers on their desks.

As a media maven, I'm surprised you're not familiar.

Oh, wait....oh, never mind. That little thing with armed Black Panthers at the polls was a "phony controversy", right?

Brian - thanks for providing the epitome of phony controversy.
