I think they call this the Southwest Effect:
The Pioneer Press reports today that Northwest Airlines is now offering $39 one-way fares to Chicago during the middle of the week.
Southwest Airlines introduced its Twin Cities-Chicago service earlier this month, offering $49 one-way flights.
