Famous Dave's wins national website award
By Joe Kimball | 09/24/09
Famous Dave's of America, the barbecue restaurant chain based in Minnetonka, has won the "Best Restaurant Website" award in the Web Marketing Association’s 2009 WebAwards.
The group gives awards in 96 industry categories, and the competition attracted 2,000 entries from 45 countries.
Although I'm not fond of sites with blaring music upon opening -- like this one -- the judges liked it and said the "the use of graphics made the site sharp, but it didn't get in the way of speed, or ease of use."
The site was designed by digital marketing agency Xylem Digital of Denver.
Famous Dave's officials say this is the 401st big award for the chain, although the awards are usually for their food, sauce or club-like atmosphere.

As much as I love Famous Dave's and their food, their victory in this category really makes me question if the WMA is a real organization and if they have any clue what they're talking about.
So I'm left to assume that this award is as much of a sham as the Webby Awards (http://www.slate.com/id/2188581/), and therefore I wonder how is this news?
