More venture capital for Minnesota companies in Q4: Venture capital investment in Minnesota startups rebounded in the fourth quarter, with the state’s companies bagging $90.7 million in financing, up from $26 million in the third quarter, according to a report released today. Venture investment in the state also was up, compared to last year’s period, when Minnesota companies raised $55.7 million. Nationwide, venture investment fell 2 percent in the fourth quarter, slipping to $5 billion. Read full story
ER doctor group plans clinic in Woodbury: Emergency Physicians, which provides doctors to hospital emergency rooms around the Twin Cities, plans to open a facility like no other in the area — a stand-alone clinic that can treat roughly 80 percent of typical emergency cases. The Minnetonka-based practice is in negotiations with Robert Muir Co. to lease about 9,000 square feet, and construct an additional 2,200 square feet, at one of the shopping centers Robert Muir owns near the junction of Interstate 494 and Valley Creek Road in Woodbury. Push reportedly resumes to lobby NFL teams on L.A. move: Majestic Realty within the last two weeks has started discussions with National Football League teams, to possibly relocate to the Los Angeles area, according to a report in theSan Gabriel Valley-Tribune. According to the report, Majestic Vice President John Semcken would only confirm that talks have started. In October, Semcken had said that Majestic would not begin talks until after the Super Bowl. The Minnesota Vikings were among seven targeted teams. Read full story
Med-tech firm CHF Solutions sold: CHF Solutions, a Brooklyn Park firm that makes a device used to remove excess fluid from heart failure and kidney disease patients, has been sold to a Swedish company for an undisclosed amount. The buyer is Gambro, a med-tech firm that makes devices for treating kidney disease. The company’s U.S. operations are based in Denver. CHF issued a stock offering worth about $1.8 million in connection with the acquisition, according to an SEC filing. Read full story
National Private Duty Association forms Minnesota chapter: The Indianapolis-based National Private Duty Association said Thursday that it’s formed a Minnesota chapter. The NPDA, a nonprofit organization formed in 2002 for providers of private-pay home care, presently represents 1,100 home-care agencies in 44 states and Puerto Rico. Its members provide home-care aides, companion care, homemaker services and nursing services in clients’ homes and places of residence, according to the group’s site. Minnesota will become the 24th NPDA chapter in the country. Read full story
