Mayo Clinic touting economic impact: The Mayo Clinic wants people to know that it has a big impact economically — to the tune of $9.6 billion for the state of Minnesota and $22 billion for the nation as a whole. And that’s just for 2008. The Rochester, Minn.-based health provider, which also has major operations in Jacksonville, Fla., and Phoenix/Scottsdale, Ariz., measured its impact based on goods and services bought, capital expenditures, payroll and benefits for employees, and dollars spent by patients and their visitors. Doran adds architectural services: Doran Cos. is adding architectural and environmental design services to its existing commercial development and construction offerings, the company announced today. Bloomington-based Doran has hired Dale Wenkus to lead the new design division. Jacobs to enter Bass Fishing Hall of Fame: Minnesota businessman Irwin Jacobs will be inducted into the Bass Fishing Hall of Fame as an “industry innovator” on Tuesday in Birmingham, Ala. Jacobs founded Minneapolis-based boat manufacturer Genmar Holdings in 1978 and served as CEO until last November, when he resigned shortly after the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
