UnitedHealth subsidiary Ingenix buys QualityMetric: UnitedHealth Group Inc. health information and technology subsidiary Ingenix announced Wednesday that it has acquired QualityMetric Inc. for an undisclosed amount. Lincoln, R.I.-based QualityMetric provides products and services that help health care companies assess patient-reported outcomes -- a measurement of the ultimate effectiveness of health care as reported by the patients themselves. General Mills ups guidance after 15% Q3 earnings jump: General Mills Inc. reported a 15 percent increase in earnings and a 3 percent increase in net sales in its fiscal third quarter. The firm also increased its outlook for earnings for the full year. Third quarter net sales increased 3 percent to $3.63 billion. Net earnings were $332 million, which included a net-reduction in the mark-to-market valuation of some of its commodity holdings. Earnings per share increased 12.9 percent, to 96 cents per share, up from 85 cents a year ago. Read full story

Schell's announces Grain Belt Nordeast brew: August Schell Brewing Co. will release a new year-round flavor of Grain Belt beer that’s named for the historic Minneapolis neighborhood where Grain Belt was founded. Grain Belt Nordeast will debut April 7 at 8 a.m. at Surdyk’s Liquor Store in Northeast Minneapolis. It will be sold in 6 packs, 12 packs and on draft that day at bar and liquor stores in that part of Minneapolis. It will be released to other stores the following day. Read full story 

BoundaryMedical sold to Tennessee company: Health care software startup BoundaryMedical has been sold to IMI Health Inc., a data-mining and analytics company based in Tennessee. IMI markets software that health care firms use to track and analyze transaction data. Overall, IMI Health appears to be a good match for Minnetonka-based BoundaryMedical, which sells software that health providers, insurers and med-tech companies use to track and compare the outcomes of medical treatments.
