Boston Scientific to ship defibrillators: Boston Scientific Corp. said Thursday it will begin shipping two types of implantable defibrillators, after shipments were halted in March when it was discovered that two manufacturing processes used in the production of the devices had not been cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The Natick, Mass., company is reporting that the FDA has cleared the manufacturing changes in question. The medical device maker said that it can meet customer demand for two of its product lines, Cognis and Teligen, within 24 hours. Read full story 

Nash-Finch CEO Alec Covington’s pay drops 51 percent: For the second year in a row, Alec Covington, president and CEO of Nash Finch Co. took a cut in compensation. Covington received $1,954,384 in total compensation in 2009, down 51 percent from the $4,004,593 he made in 2008. Read full story

Biotech firm Biothera raises $3.5 million: Biothera, a biotech firm that’s developing immune-system treatments, has raised $3.5 million in financing, according to a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filing. The Eagan-based company has two divisions: One is focused on pharmaceuticals for treating diseases, the other markets ingredients used in food products and nutritional supplements. Read full story
