Target installs recycling stations in U.S. stores: Target has installed recycling stations in its 1,740 domestic stores to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Earth Day, the retail giant said Tuesday. The permanent, store-front stations will accept aluminum, glass and plastic drink containers, plastic bags, ink cartridges, MP3 players, cell phones and other electronics. Minneapolis-based Target also will give away 1.5 million reusable shopping bags made from recycled bottles at its stores on April 18. Read full story

Xcel Energy CEO Richard Kelly's pay doubled in 2009: Xcel Energy paid its chief executive more than twice as much in 2009 than in the prior year, according to a new filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. According to a proxy filed by Xcel, CEO Richard Kelly pocketed $11.3 million in total compensation for 2009, compared with $5.1 million in 2008 and $9.2 million in 2007. Read full story

Tony Armand is new Shock Doctor CEO: Mouthguard maker Shock Doctor Inc. has named Bravo Sports CEO Tony Armand as its new chief executive. Armand will start as CEO on May 10 and also will sit on the Plymouth company's board of directors. Read full story

Select Comfort paid CEO $1.2 million in 2009: Select Comfort, manufacturer and retailer of the adjustable Sleep Number bed, paid its CEO for a full year of work in 2009 after he went without a salary for 10 months the year before. The Plymouth-based company paid CEO William McLaughlin $1.2 million in 2009. Read full story

Merchant & Gould opens New York office: Merchant & Gould has opened an office in New York, the Minneapolis intellectual property law firm said Tuesday. Attorney Adda Gogoris, a pharmaceutical and biotechnology patent expert and formerly a principal at the now-defunct Darby & Darby of New York, will lead the law firm's ninth office. Read full story
