Ecolab appears to be in the right place at the right time, argues the InglefoX Trading and Investing blog. The St. Paul company's food safety unit, Ecosure, stands to benefit from the recent salmonella scare, writes the author, a Chicago investor. The last thing food companies want is to be linked to a major outbreak, and Ecolab offers a proactive solution. IngelfoX writes: "[T]hey are a company that benefits from public fears."

A couple of Minnesota companies announced new CEOs on Monday. Caribou Coffee, which is headquartered in Brooklyn Center, hired Michael Tattersfield, a veteran of YUM! brands (KFC, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut). And snowmobile-maker Polaris said Scott Wine of UTC Fire & Security in Hartford will replace outgoing CEO Thomas Tiller on Sept. 1.

Best Buy is planning to roll out its stores in the U.K. more aggressively than analysts and competitors previously thought, according to a report in the Financial Times.

The newspaper does not name its source, but says the Richfield-based retailer's long-term plans are to open 200 some stores in the U.K.
"People familiar with the plans" said a typical UK Best Buy store will be about 30,000 square feet. The first five are expected to open next year.

More Best Buy: The company has scored exclusive rights to webcast The Police at their final performance, Thursday night at Madison Square Garden. Fans can tune in at 9:45 p.m. CDT at  to hear three songs from the band's "encore." (Yup, that's right. Not only is it predetermined that the band will play an encore, but it's also been decided when the encore will start and how many songs will be played.)
