    Carlson Hotels reports record revenue from 2008 growth

    There was no vacation in 2008 for Carlson Hotels Worldwide.

    The Minnetonka-based company said despite the challenging economy, it added 89 new hotels to its portfolio and achieved record system-wide revenue of $7.5 billion, up 8 percent from 2007.

    The expansion included the opening of the company's 1,000th property, a 252-room Radisson resort on the Caribbean island of St. Martin. Other openings spanned the globe from Dallas to Dubai.

    CEO Jay Witzel said in a statement that the company has more than 300 hotels in various stages of development and that it plans to continue to focus on expanding its portfolio in 2009.
