Can you imagine the mess Target would have on its hands if half its customers suddenly changed their minds in the check-out lane and abandoned their shopping carts at the register?
That's exactly what happens on Target.com, according to fresh data from Compete.com.
Compete.com compares the e-commerce competition between Target and Wal-Mart. Last month Wal-Mart drew more visitors to its website than Target, but Target customers were more likely to place an item in their e-shopping cart.
The hitch for Target, though: 47 percent of its online shoppers never complete their purchase. At Walmart.com, only 35 percent of shoppers end up abandoning their carts.
