    Best Buy 'watching very closely' for India opportunities

    Best Buy is already expanding in China, Mexico and Europe.

    The next stop on its world tour? India, perhaps.

    "India is obviously something we're watching very closely," the company's new CEO Brian Dunn said this week. "There's very healthy internal whispers about how important that market is."

    The Economic Times of India reported in 2007 that a "top-level delegation" from Best Buy visited the country, and that the company "may enter" a partnership with retailer Vivek.

    That was two years ago -- no way of knowing whether those talks are still on the table. But partnering with an established retailer would be similar to how the company is entering Europe with Carphone Warehouse.

    Dunn also noted at the company's annual shareholder meeting Wednesday that the company is trying not to spread itself "too thinly" in its international expansion.
