UnitedHealth won a big military contract earlier this week that could be worth up to $21.8 billion.
Now, rumor is the Minnetonka-based HMO could buy up part of the company that lost out in the bidding, Reuters reports.
The UnitedHealth won a contract previously held by Humana to cover care for the military's southern region. Hartford won the northern contract, which was held by HealthNet.
According to unnamed sources familiar with the situation, Reuters reports that UnitedHealth is in talks to buy HealthNet's northeastern operations.
