Sony and Best Buy announced a new line of wireless audio products today.
The tuners, speakers and other components will be sold under the name ALTUS. They include wireless computer speakers and an iPod docking station that will transmit music to speakers into multiple rooms using S-AIR technology.
Digital Trends writes that the alliance marks "a new trend where retailers are increasingly working directly with product manufacturers to develop products they see as matching their customer demographics, as well as letting the manufacturers have input on how to retail the products."
The CrunchGear blog says the products are "a little on the pricy side, but a world without wires is a world with convenience."
The products are for sale or preorder on Sony's online store now and will show up in Best Buy stores in September. (More: PC Mag, Reuters, Slashgear)
