    Xcel names CFO to take president, COO job

    Xcel Energy's chief financial officer has been named its new president and chief operating officer.

    Benjamin Fowke joined the company from New Century Energies as part of that company's 2000 merger with Northern States Power.

    "Energy companies face tremendous challenges today. Ben has an extensive knowledge of the industry and is deeply committed to Xcel Energy’s strategies of customer service, operational excellence and environmental leadership," said CEO Richard Kelly, who previous held the president title. "He is an outstanding leader of the company."
