Twin Cities home-prices climb in September; growth leads nationwide survey: Metro home prices continued to rise in September, according to the latest Standard & Poor’s/Case-Shiller Home Price Index. Home prices in the Minneapolis-St. Paul market climbed by 1.8 percent during the month. That was tied for the best month-over-month performance among 20 markets nationwide; Detroit prices also climbed by 1.8 percent. Home prices in the Twin Cities have now risen for five straight months. Read full story
Delta lands OK on Zagat airline survey: Fliers’ reviews of Delta Air Lines were mixed, according to Zagat’s 2009 Airline Survey released today. The survey covered 16 domestic and 73 international airlines. Each airline was rated on Zagat's 30-point scale on its premium and economy class service for both domestic and international flights. General Mills plans to cut products, but no word on which ones: General Mills plans to “exit certain underperforming products in its U.S. retail segment,” the Golden Valley-based maker of Cheerios and other food products said today in a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filing. It didn’t disclose what products it plans to stop selling, but said they generated about $35 million in sales in the previous fiscal year. Read full story
Hormel 4Q profits up, but sales weak: Hormel Foods said today that fourth-quarter earnings were up about 50 percent amid lower operating costs, even as the Austin, Minn.-based food products maker saw sales sag across its business segments. Hormel reported a profit of $103.9 million, or 77 cents per share, for the quarter. Read full story
