    Regulators took fewer bank actions in 3Q: Federal banking regulators took fewer actions against banks during the third quarter, the first quarterly drop in at least four quarters. Still, the nation’s banks are far from recovering from the down economy, with the number of cease and desist orders issued increasing, according to the Third Quarter 2009 Regulatory Actions report from MortgageDaily.com.     Olson picks up KraftMaid Cabinetry, Red Kap as clients: Minneapolis-based advertising firm Olson has picked up two additional clients in the past week. Olson said Monday that it’s become the agency of record for Middlefield, Ohio-based KraftMaid Cabinetry. That followed a deal last week to pick up the account of work-clothing company Red Kap, based in Nashville, Tenn. Read full story

    Black Friday draws more shoppers, but smaller tallies: Although more shoppers hunted for bargains on Black Friday, they spent less this year than last, according to data released by the National Retail Foundation. The NRF released its annual survey Sunday showing 195 million shoppers visited stores and Web sites over the holiday weekend, up from 172 million last year. Average spending by those shoppers, however, dropped to $343 per person, down $29 from Thanksgiving weekend in 2008 and only a few dollars off 2007 levels. Read full story

    FDIC sanctions Access Bank: Citing unsafe and unsound banking practices, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. issued a cease-and-desist order against Champlin-based Access Bank. The FDIC issued the order in October, but made the action public Friday. Read full story
