C.H. Robinson profit down slightly in Q4: C.H. Robinson Worldwide’s earnings fell slightly in the fourth quarter, as lower transportation rates shrank margins, the company reported Tuesday. The Eden Prairie-based trucking and logistics company reported a third-quarter profit of $87.7 million, down from $88.9 million. Read full story
Thomson Reuters buys Super Lawyers: Thompson Reuters’ legal business has acquired Super Lawyers, a publication that rates attorneys, the company announced Tuesday. Super Lawyers is published in print and online by Minneapolis-based Key Professional Media. Thomson, whose legal division is based in Eagan, didn’t disclose terms of the deal. Super Lawyers uses a nomination process and independent research to rate lawyers in each state. Read full story
Toro CEO Hoffman’s compensation falls in ’09: Toro CEO, Chairman and President Michael Hoffman receive $2.08 million in total compensation last year, down from $2.85 million in 2008, according to a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filing. Bloomington-based Toro, which makes lawn mowers and other outdoor maintenance equipment, paid Hoffman a salary of $766,665, down from $825,110 in 2008. Read full story
Chambers Hotel joins Le Méridien flag: The Chambers Hotel in downtown Minneapolis has joined the Le Méridien chain, the brand’s parent company, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, announced Tuesday. The art-focused boutique hotel will be Starwood’s 10th Le Méridian in North America; it also marks a return of the brand to Minneapolis. Read full story
