Minnesota Wild store to open at Burnsville Center: The Minnesota Wild will open a new Hockey Lodge retail store at Burnsville Center on Friday, the team announced today. The 2,184-square-foot store will be located on the mall’s upper level next to Dick’s Sporting Goods. It will sell a wide range of Wild merchandise. Read full story
Movie Gallery files bankruptcy; two MN stores to close: Movie Gallery Inc. has filed bankruptcy for the second time in less than three years, but it plans to stay open. The Wilsonville, Ore.-based movie rental chain said it will immediately close 760 of its 2,415 stores in a bid to remain viable. The company has 10 locations in Minnesota and two of them, in Brainard and Saulk Rapids, will close and have announced liquidation sales, according to the company’s website. Read full story
Ford Ranger sales up 47 percent in January: Sales of the Ford Ranger pickup truck increased 47 percent in January 2010 compared to the same month a year ago. The Ford Motor Co., based in Dearborn, Mich., said Tuesday that there were 4,143 Ranger trucks sold last month, up from 2,813 a year ago. Ranger trucks are manufactured at the Twin Cities Assembly Plant in the Highland Park neighborhood of St. Paul. Read full story
Wal-Mart donates to 11 Twin Cities nonprofits: Wal-Mart Stores Inc. has distributed a total of $315,000 in contributions to 11 Twin Cities nonprofits “to help offset the increased demand for services many nonprofits are seeing due to the economic downturn,” the retail giant announced Tuesday. The grants were made through the Wal-Mart Foundation’s State Giving Program. Read full story
