Popeyes sues First National Bank of the Lakes over missing funds: The Minneapolis Popeyes Chicken & Biscuits restaurant says in a lawsuit that more than $150,000 is missing from its account at the First National Bank of the Lakes. No criminal charges have been filed, but the South Minneapolis restaurant accused the bank of fraud, negligence and breach of contract in a lawsuit filed in Hennepin County District Court on July 1. Report: Nicollet Mall real estate remains premium: Despite the recession, job losses and high vacancy rates in the entire commercial real estate market, Nicollet Mall space is extremely tight. According to a report published today by Bloomington-based Northmarq Real Estate Services, a handful of Class A office buildings held their ground in the first half of 2010 and have only an average vacancy of 5 percent of Nicollet Mall Corridor. Perin completes $5 million deal for Grand Rios water park hotel: Roseville-based hospitality company Perin has closed on its $5 million acquisition of the Ramada Minneapolis Northwest & Grand Rios Indoor Water Park in Brooklyn Park from The Wirth Cos. Inc. The deal's price, which hadn't been announced, was recently filed with Hennepin County property tax department. Read full story
Life Time Fitness Q2 revenue up 8.7%: Shares of Life Time Fitness Inc. rose Thursday after the health-club chain turned in better-than-expected earnings and revenue for the second quarter. The Chanhassen-based fitness center chain, which operates 89 centers in 19 states, posted revenue of $231.1 million in the quarter, up 8.7 percent from $212.5 million during the same period last year.
