    Target could have avoided Emmer woe, experts say: When Target Corp. became the first corporate supporter of MN Forward, the new business-focused political action committee, the retailer likely didn’t think its $150,000 contribution would generate much attention. It thought wrong, and now — as the company fields complaints from customers, employees and advocacy groups — other business owners should weigh own political donations carefully, experts say. But not all companies supporting MN Forward have been criticized, and the differences between them illustrate the factors companies must consider as they decide how — or if — they should wade into politics.     Prosecutors say Lakeville man ran $79.5 million Ponzi scheme: Federal prosecutors on Friday charged a Lakeville man with bank fraud and providing a false income tax return over what authorities say was a Ponzi scheme that bilked 17 banks out of $79.5 million. Corey Johnston, 40, is accused of overselling participations on large commercial and personal loans arranged by him through his company First United Funding. Read full story

    Minnetonka woman accused of swindling $2 million from broadcasters: Hennepin County prosecutors have charged a Minnetonka woman with eight counts of theft by swindle, accusing her of taking up to $2 million from a radio broadcasting operation she worked for. Terry Schultz-Schech, 54, worked as an office manager and comptroller for Ingstad Brothers Broadcasting and Iowa City Broadcasting, according to the complaint filed by prosecutors. Read full story

    Goodrich breaks ground on Burnsville expansion: Goodrich Corp. on Friday broke ground on the first phase of an expansion project at its Sensors and Integrated Systems Division headquarters in Burnsville. It involves the Charlotte, N.C.-based maker of commercial aerospace and defense sensors adding 52,000 square feet to the 243,000-square-foot facility. Read full story
