Cargill recalls ground beef: Cargill is once again in the news with a ground beef recall; it’s recalling 8,500 pounds of ground beef products that may be contaminated with dangerous E. coli bacteria. Minnetonka-based Cargill packaged the beef at its plant in Wyalusing, Pa.; it was sold in 26 BJ’s Wholesale Club stores in the Northeast United States. Officials believe there is an association between the beef and a cluster of illnesses in the states of Maine and New York. Read full story
LifeWay Christian Stores acquires Northwestern Book Stores locations: LifeWay Christian Stores, , one of the major Christian bookstore chains in the United States, is moving into the Twin Cities after acquiring five Northwestern Book Stores in the area. LifeWay acquired former Northwestern stores in Coon Rapids, Woodbury, Burnsville, Maple Grove and Edina. Store management will be retained. Read full story
St. Paul highlights J&J Distributing expansion: A host of public officials gathered in St. Paul today to highlight how $3.3 million in government funds are helping to pay for $8.5 million in expansion work and energy efficiency upgrades at J&J Distributing in the city’s North End.
