    Minnesotans react to inaugural speech, new presidency

    MinnPost asked several Minnesota leaders and public-policy experts to share their thoughts on Inauguration Day and the beginning of the Barack Obama presidency. Today we share a few of their responses.

    Lawrence R. Jacobs: "Obama set aside generations of disputes … as 'stale political arguments.'"  

    Rep. Marty Seifert:     "My hope is that Obama will truly want to work with the GOP."

    Barbara Crosby:     "Our collective soul as Americans, as world citizens was nourished."

     

     

    Mayor Don Ness: "Can we overcome? The answer came back: Yes, we can."

    David Schultz:     "What I really liked most was the Benediction … the speech that Obama should have given."

    Sean Kershaw:     "This is a call for a new type of politics, a new practice of citizenship."
