Klobuchar recommends Todd Jones as U.S. attorney

By Cynthia Dizikes | Published Thu, Mar 5 2009 11:12 am

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., today recommended Todd Jones as the new U.S. attorney for Minnesota. Jones served as the U.S. attorney for Minnesota from May 1998 through January 2001.

“There’s certainly no question that Todd Jones has the right experience for the job,” Klobuchar said in a statement. “Even more, he has all of the qualities that I was looking for.  He’s a seasoned, highly-respected attorney who is fair-minded and has impeccable integrity.  He has a strong record of working productively with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies.  Above all, he’s committed to seeing that justice is done under the law and for the people of Minnesota.”

Klobuchar, who serves on the Senate Judiciary Committee, added that she had a strong working relationship with Jones when she served as Hennepin County attorney before joining the Senate.

“He is a real class act who’s not in this for his ego, but to see that justice is done,” Klobuchar said.

The U.S. attorney is the head federal law enforcement officer in the state. Frank Magill has been serving as Minnesota’s acting U.S. attorney since last January when Rachel Paulose resigned amid criticism over her management style and allegations that she mishandled classified information.
