    Passport office opens in Minneapolis

    WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Sick of traveling across state lines to quickly get a passport? Now you don’t have to.

    Sen. Amy Klobuchar announced today that the U.S. State Department has opened Minnesota’s first domestic passport issuance facility, located in downtown Minneapolis at 212 South Third Ave.

    Minnesotans can get passports at other offices in the state. But in the past, if you needed a passport immediately, you had to travel to a passport center in Chicago. Now Minnesotans will be able to get expedited service in Minneapolis.

    “This new office means that Minnesotans will finally have convenient access to passport services,” Klobuchar said in a statement.  “This access is especially important because of our border with Canada and the substantial international travel that goes through the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport.”
