WASHINGTON, D.C. -- It has been less than 72 hours since Al Franken was declared the victor in Minnesota’s marathon Senate race, but the former entertainer is already in high demand.
Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, has invited Franken to be the featured speaker at his annual steak fry -- one of the Iowa Democratic Party’s largest fundraisers, according to CNN.
The September event has featured nearly every Democratic presidential contender, including Barack Obama, Hilary Rodham Clinton, Joe Biden, Chris Dodd and Bill Richardson, CNN reports.
“Al was thrilled to be invited and [is] eager to attend,” Franken spokeswoman Jess McIntosh told CNN.
