WASHINGTON — Jess McIntosh, the oft-quotes press secretary who has been with Sen. Al Franken since he was a candidate in 2007, is leaving for a job at EMILY’s List.

McIntosh had previously been communications director for the state DFL party.

She will now become the deputy communication director for EMILY’s List, a group dedicated to electing pro-choice women. There she’ll link up again with Stephanie Schriock, the new president of that group who was campaign manager for Franken’s Senate run and the subsequent recount.

“I’ve respected EMILY’S List since I was old enough to wonder where the women in government were,” McIntosh said in a statement released by EMILY’s List. “Stephanie Schriock has built a smart, tenacious team and I’m proud to join them. I’ve helped candidates win some pretty tough fights, and I’m thrilled to bring my experience to EMILY’s List to help elect more strong pro-choice Democratic women.”

Franken wished her well in the move. Her last day is July 16.

“For the past three years I have counted Jess among my most trusted advisors and I wish her the best at EMILY’s List,” Franken said in a statement. “Jess’s talent is battle-tested and will be put to great use in her new role generating earned media and handling crises for a new generation of progressive women candidates.”
