Democrats Walz, Peterson, win re-election
By Derek Wallbank | 11/02/10
From February through mid-October, Tim Walz was the number one target in Minnesota for national Republicans. And despite a spirited challenge from state Rep. Randy Demmer, Walz will be returning to Washington.
Also returning: Rep. Collin Peterson, who beat back the toughest challenger he's had since the last GOP wave in 1994 in Lee Byberg.
Peterson will be giving up his gavel as chairman of the House Agriculture Committee, with Republicans taking the House, but as ranking member will still be one of the largest Democratic voices in writing the next Farm Bill, due in the next session. Walz, who sits on that committee, will also have a hand in writing that legislation if he maintains that slot.
