Klobuchar raises $1.1 million for her re-election bid
WASHINGTON — Amy Klobuchar raised $1.1 million during the latest three-month fundraising quarter, according to a campaign official. She has $3.3 million on hand, 16 months before the 2012 elections.
Klobuchar is just the latest Democrat to post $1 million-plus fundraising numbers from the second quarter. The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee has touted strong fundraising totals from half a dozen incumbents and candidates, many of whom are competing in races that are expected to be much more competitive than the one in Minnesota.
Klobuchar’s polling numbers have been fantastic. In June, 61 percent of respondents told Public Policy Polling that they approve of her job in Congress. She held a 28-point lead over her only declared Republican opponent, former state Rep. Dan Severson.
Second quarter fundraising totals are due to the Federal Election Committee by Friday.
